Early Years and Reception aged children are taught in a mixed ability setting. Teachers will organise and group children according to the activities to be taught.

The children receive a broad and balanced curriculum based around six key areas of learning:

Personal, Social and Emotional

Communication, Language & Literacy

Knowledge and understanding of the world

At Key Stage 1 and 2 children are part of a year group. The children are taught from the National Curriculum for English & Mathematics. They additionally follow a ‘Skills Based Curriculum’ which has been tailored for our own pupils. The curriculum is designed to motivate, excite and inspire all of our learners.

Teaching staff organise their teaching to suit the needs of the children. This will include children being taught according to the stage of their language and mathematical development.

This means they will be taught in various groupings – at times, this will be in maths and language groups according to their stage of development, and at other times, it could be in a more mixed ability setting.

Nursery & Reception (Foundation Stage)

Year 1 and  Year 2  (Key Stage 1)

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (Key Stage 2)

Each Key stage has a ‘School Improvement Leader’ who coordinates the work of the year group classes.
